(Amherst, NY) – Buffalo Junior Sabres forward Andrew Poturalski has been named among the prospects on the National Hockey League’s “Players to Watch” list in advance of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The “Players to Watch” list features prospects from Junior, Midget and Prep School clubs throughout the United States and Canada.
Making the list does not guarantee selection in the NHL Entry Draft, of course, but it does demonstrate the player’s development has advanced enough to gain potential interest by professional scouts.
Poturalski, age 17, is one of just five players in the entire Ontario Junior Hockey League to be named a “Player to Watch,” and was a runner-up for the league’s “Player of the Month” honors in September, though awarded a similar honor for the team by head coach Grant Ledyard. Through October 27, 2011, Poturalski led the Junior Sabres in scoring with 10 goals and 17 assists in 15 games.
A resident of Amherst, New York and a senior at The Nichols School in Buffalo, Poturalski has already committed to the University of New Hampshire beginning with the 2013-2014 academic year. A formal letter signing is planned for the very near future.
